Configuring the Messages settings

In the Messages section of the Event information tab, you can configure the type of in-app communication you want to enable for the event.

Sourcing Optimizer offers one-way and two-way messaging. If you prefer to communicate with bidders outside of Sourcing Optimizer, you can disable in-app messaging. You can add attachments to your messages, and you can configure if bidders can add attachments to their messages.

Below steps outline how to configure the Messages settings for the event:

  1. Go to Design > Overview.
  2. On the Event information tab, navigate to the Messages section.
  3. Configure the messages settings.
    • To enable one-way communication from the purchaser to bidders, set the Allow event organizers to send messages to bidders toggle to ON, and set the Allow bidders to send messages to event organizers toggle to OFF.
    • To enable two-way communication between the purchaser and bidders, set the Allow event organizers to send messages to bidders toggle to ON, and set the Allow bidders to send messages to event organizers toggle to ON.
    • To disable communication between the purchaser and bidders, set the Allow event organizers to send messages to bidders toggle to OFF, and set the Allow bidders to send messages to event organizers toggle to OFF
    • To enable bidders to add attachments to their messages, set the Allow bidders to add attachments to messages toggle to ON.

In most cases it would be recommended to keep the Allow bidders to add attachments to messages toggle set to OFF. This ensures that bid submissions, presentations and any documents, are submitted by bidders through the designated system functionality, rather than through the Messages feature. However, there may be specific situations where enabling this feature is beneficial.
