Finished Bidding

The I'm finished bidding button is a communication signal, not a submission. Clicking it tells the purchaser that all bids are complete, but data is only saved when Submit Changes is clicked (online) or an Excel file is uploaded (offline). The feature is optional per event. Bids remain editable until the round closes; Resume bidding unlocks the sheet again. A common pitfall is clicking the button without first clicking Submit Changes.

The I'm finished bidding button is an optional feature that purchasers can enable to allow bidders to confirm the completion of their bid submissions.

In a Keelvar event, the primary method to ensure bid receipt is by clicking the Submit Changes button. However, purchasers may occasionally enable the I'm finished bidding button as an additional communication tool. This article explains the function of the button, its location, and its impact on bid visibility.

Core functionality

The I'm finished bidding button acts as a formal handover notification. It signals to the purchaser that all entries are complete and no further changes are intended during the current round.

This button is not a substitute for bid submission. Bidders must always click Submit Changes (for online bidding) or upload an Excel sheet (for offline bidding) to save data to the server.

Scenario 1: Button enabled

If the purchaser has enabled this feature, the I'm finished bidding button appears in the upper right-hand corner of the bidding interface.

  • When to click: Only after successfully submitting the final bids for the round.
  • Result: The purchaser receives a notification that the submission is complete.
  • Edit bids: Bids remain editable while the round is active. Click Resume bidding to unlock the sheet for further changes.

  • Visibility: Bids are visible to the purchaser provided Submit Changes was clicked. The button is a communication convenience rather than a technical requirement for visibility.

Scenario 2: Button not visible

If the button is not visible, the feature is not enabled for the specific event.

  • Action required: None. After clicking Submit Changes or uploading a bid file, the purchaser automatically has full visibility of the bids.
  • Confirmation: A green success banner at the top of the screen confirms that the data has been saved.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

  • Does clicking I'm finished bidding lock the bids?

No. It signals completion to the purchaser, but edits are permitted until the round deadline. Click Resume bidding to unlock the bid sheet.

  • Bids were submitted, but the purchaser cannot see them. Why?

This occurs if the Submit Changes button was not clicked. Clicking I'm finished bidding without clicking Submit Changes first prevents data from being saved to the system. Always verify the presence of the green confirmation banner.
