To enhance account security, Keelvar requires users without two-factor authentication (2FA) to verify their identity via a 6-digit email code every 90 days. This mandatory check ensures that only authorized users can access their accounts. This guide explains when verification occurs, how to complete the process, and troubleshooting steps for common issues, such as missing emails or invalid codes.
Overview
To help keep your account secure, Keelvar periodically verifies your identity by sending a one-time code to your email address during login. This is separate from two-factor authentication (2FA) and requires no setup.
When verification is required
If you do not have 2FA enabled on your account, Keelvar prompts you to verify your identity via email every 90 days. Please note the following logic:
- Verification is required if it has been 90 days or more since your last successful identity check.
- Users with 2FA enabled will not receive these prompts, as 2FA already provides an enhanced security layer.
- Identity verification is tied to your account credentials, regardless of the device or browser used.
What to expect
After entering your email and password at login, you may encounter the verification screen instead of the dashboard.
A 6-digit code is automatically dispatched to the email address associated with your Keelvar account.
Steps to complete verification
- Log in to Keelvar using your standard email and password.
- Review the on-screen prompt asking for a 6-digit verification code.
- Check your inbox for an automated email from Keelvar containing the unique code.
- Enter the code into the field provided on the login page.
- Click Verify to complete the login process.
Troubleshooting
Missing verification email
- Inspect your spam or junk folders.
- Confirm you are checking the specific email account used for your Keelvar login.
- Wait at least 3–5 minutes for the network delivery.
- If the email still does not appear, attempt to log in again to trigger a new code generation.
Invalid or expired code
- Ensure you are using the most recent code received. If you triggered multiple requests, only the latest code is valid.
- Verification codes are time-sensitive. If the code has expired, refresh the login page to request a new one.
Stop email verification prompts
The most efficient way to bypass these periodic checks is to enable 2FA. Once 2FA is active, you will use your authentication app instead of email codes. To configure this, navigate to Account Settings Security.
