Bidders who review an event and decide not to participate use the Decline to bid button to tell the purchaser no bid is coming. Declining blocks bidding, stops reminder messages, and is fully reversible while the round is open and no bids have been placed. An optional message can also be provided to explain why the bid has been declined.
Figure 1. Decline to bid button
Reviewing an event and deciding not to bid is a normal outcome of the bidding process. The Decline to bid button gives that decision a clear, formal channel: the purchaser sees immediately that no bid is coming, instead of guessing whether the event is still under review.
Decline to bid
- Open the event and review the details as usual
- Click Decline to bid in the bidding header. The button is available before any bid has been placed, on both online and offline (Excel) bidding flows
- Confirm the decision in the dialog. An optional message to the purchaser can be included, explaining the reason, for example capacity constraints or scope outside current coverage
Figure 2. Decline to bid reason (optional)
After confirming, bidding is blocked across all rounds and a Declined to bid banner appears. The event organizer sees a Declined status, and reminder messages about the event stop.
Sharing the reason is optional but valuable: it helps the purchaser understand the decision and target future invitations better. The message is sent through standard event messaging and appears in the normal messages tab.
Changing the decision
Declining is reversible. Click Undo decline at any time while the round is open and bidding reopens.
Declining after bidding has started
Once a successful bid has been placed, the decline option is no longer available; the I'm finished bidding control covers the completed-bidding case. To withdraw already-submitted bids, contact the purchaser through the messages tab.
